Why It’s Good to Hire a Professional Planner
Sometimes it seems easier to just do things on your own. Once upon a time there was a very sweet couple who had an idea to put out a search on social media for a new planner to plan their wedding and get paid in experience. For a new planner, this might actually be a fair trade. A photographer friend I knew saw the post and recommended it to a new planner who was in the perfect position to take this wedding on. It was going to be straightforward and I was actually available to help if she had trouble or any questions. It turned into a nightmare situation for the couple because their new planner all of a sudden got cold feet herself and completely disappeared. No one was able to get a hold of her. The couple was very nervous and didn’t know what to do. It was three weeks before their big day.
The bride was ready to give up and she thought that if she and her bridesmaids rallied together they could decorate for the reception and then get ready for the wedding. This was definitely not a good plan. My friend alerted me to what was happening and I ended up stepping in and taking over the planning and the coordination, with two assistants. Planning a wedding is more that just decorating tables. We turned it into wedding management and they did end up paying for it after all. In the end, the couple was able to get ready for their wedding in peace and enjoy every single moment. They were extremely thankful that they had a professional come in and take over the right way.
